Transported by submarine to this fully-loaded cruise liner called Earth. I transitioned from water to dry land and upgraded my breathing apparatus.
Amazed by the number of bodyguards gowned in protons, electrons, and neutrons. I was given a thin layer of fur to maintain body heat, protect my eyes, and remove toxic sweat.
Then endowed with a web of emotions to extend my protection through sensory inclusion of the whole human race.
Nourishment? Wow, more than I could fathom, sprouting out of the ground and hanging from trees.
Awestruck, I asked — is all this medicine for me?’ — Indeed, ‘but don’t use more than you need.’
Nothing New Under The Sun
Born as tiny nuggets of flesh our bodies grow by absorbing nutrients extracted from food. But food is not the source of nutrients. Soil is the source of nutrients. Food plays the role of a messenger transferring nutrients from the soil.
A miraculous intelligence within the body converts these nutrients to flesh and blood. At the end of its term, like an uneaten fruit that falls to the ground, our body rejoins its originating source.
Therefore, soil is the source, the messenger, the message, and the consumer. The consumed is excreted back into soil to begin the cycle all over again. By the mercy of this dynamic cycle, immunity is fixed.
What and Where Is the Immune System?
Immunity is much more than a bodily system: your skin, mucous, tears, glands, gastric acid, enzymes, respiration, excretion, circulation, nerves, and every strand of hair, responds to your need for safety and strength. But it doesn’t stop there, as none of these functions work without external support from water, air, and fundamentally soil.
Made from nutrients the body requires nutritional stimulation to remain at ease. Thus, dis-ease indicates compromised immunity, caused by a lack of stimulation on the cellular level.
Maintaining a good relationship with the messenger (food) ensures the message is received by the consumer (body). But if the sender (soil) becomes decrepit, the essence of the message (nutrients) will deteriorate and have less effect on the consumer.
Unfortunately, planet Earth’s soil is becoming decrepit. Studies show intensive and abrasive agricultural practices have reduced the nutrients in vegetables by up to 40%. There are even reports of carrots losing 75% of their nutritional value. To get the same level of vitamin A, extracted from oranges in the 1950s, we’d have to eat 8 of them today.
Soil is The Foundation of All Legacy
The United Nations, food and agriculture organisation, confirms a third of the world’s soil is moderately or highly degraded.
The suicide of 30,000 farmers is reported to be a consequence of this soil degradation.
As the source of nutrients, soil depletion plays a major role in the increasing rate of physical and mental illness.
Still, if a change in direction doesn’t occur, these effects will be minor compared to future projections. For according to the world economic forum we’ll be producing 30% less food in the next 20–50 years. But have many more mouths to feed.
In response to this bleak outlook of starvation, social unrest, and war. The Save Soil campaign headed by Yogi Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation, is rallying to draw the attention of world governments to the issue of soil erosion.
In an effort to initiate policies that redirect the treatment of our soil. Sadhguru, a 65-year-old Yogi, rode a motorcycle 30,000 KM, over a period of a 100-days.
We can all help by making our voices heard. Follow the Save Soil campaign on social media and spread the word by any other means. As fertile soil is the fundamental legacy, without which, future generations are in jeopardy.
Nutrients Are Holistic In Nature
Our web of emotions is also nourished by nutrients.
Thus, the food we consume influences how we protect our private space, and respond to challenging or hostile situations.
Thus, soil means more than just dirt, and immunity is more than a system, It’s the oneness of life.
